Having a morning routine is very important. When you start every day with healthy habits and focusing on what is important for you in your life you consciously and subconsciously take actions towards the life you want.

The main benefits of a morning routine performed every day is that not a day will go by without you thinking about your goals and what you want to reach which in turn helps you achieve them.  Depending on what your morning routine consists of it can help you with everything from getting more focused and effective to getting into physical shape.

My morning routine sometimes changes depending on the season. For example, in the summer I can sleep in since school is not in session. But Fall, Spring and Winter, getting my son out the door is a huge part of my morning routine.  There are TWO things, however, that I never ever forget to do in the morning: Drink 8oz of Water with 2tsp of  Raw, Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar and ingest a Spoonful of Coconut Oil.

The Benefits of Raw Apple Cider Vinegar are Immense. Diluted raw apple cider vinegar is a drink with many potential benefits and it has been used throughout history to treat a long list of health problems.  ACV is full of beneficial acids which are believed to help improve the make up of your intestinal flora. Research has shown a link between your gut health and mental health and that having a healthy digestive system is crucial to your overall mental health.  The starting dosage is 1 teaspoon in a big glass of water and you can slowly increase the dosage, a teaspoon at a time over several weeks, to 2 or even 3 teaspoons, if you find the increased dosage beneficial to your health.  Make sure to buy Organic, Raw, Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar. Braggs is a great brand (pictured above).  Although I only drink the ACV and water combo, there is a recipe on the side of the bottle that includes other ingredients such as honey and lemon.

Coconut oil is one of the few foods that can be classified as a “superfood.” Its unique combination of fatty acids can have profound positive effects on health which includes fat loss and better brain function.  If you want to enjoy the health benefits, then you must get organic, virgin coconut oil… NOT the refined stuff. Spectrum is a brand that I use.  I have also used Dr. Bronners as well. Some brands have  a stronger coconut taste but I have found that Spectrum brand has a very subtle taste.  If you don’t care to ingest coconut oil by the spoonful, simply using it for cooking oil will be beneficial also.

Both ACV and Coconut oil have drastically helped with my overall health.  I used to suffer terribly from acid reflux and heartburn but since starting this morning routine of ACV and coconut oil, my digestion could not be better.  My memory and mood have improved and my body now craves both.
